Find out about fostering at local drop-in events in Frome and Burnham
Residents in Frome and Burnham-on-Sea who are curious about fostering are invited to relaxed information sessions this spring. The drop-in events, hosted by Fostering in Somerset, offer a chance to speak informally with local foster carers over a free coffee and slice of cake.
The sessions aim to give people a realistic insight into what fostering involves, with no pressure to take your interest further. Staff and carers will be on hand to answer questions, share experiences and explain the support available, including full training and weekly payments. Each event is designed to be welcoming and accessible, making it an ideal first step for anyone wanting to explore fostering in a supportive, informal setting.
The Frome event takes place on Thursday 26 February, from 6pm to 8pm at The Good Heart, 7 Palmer Street, Frome BA11 1DS. Book here.
An additional information session will be held in Burnham-on-Sea on Tuesday 3 March, from 6pm-8pm at the Baptist Church, College Street, TA8 1AR. Book here.
Cllr Heather Shearer, Lead Member for Children, Families and Education, said:
Fostering can change a child’s life, and sometimes all it takes to get started is a friendly conversation.I’d really encourage anyone who’s even a little curious to pop in for a free coffee and slice of cake and meet our wonderful foster carers. You’re very welcome to bring a friend or family member along, so they can learn about the role and process too. There’s no pressure to commit, just a warm welcome and the chance to find out whether fostering could be right for you, whether that’s a plan for now or the distant future.
