Foster Carers out in force at Half Marathon

From beginners to race veterans, Somerset County Council staff and Foster Carers came out in force! Running in the Yeovil Half Marathon on Sunday (31 March), encouraging everyone to help vulnerable Somerset children.

A fifty-strong team ran wearing ‘Fostering in Somerset’ vests to raise awareness on fostering.

Fostering staff and foster carers were on hand at the information stall to offer advice to anyone interested in fostering children.

Julian Wooster, Director of children’s services at Somerset County Council was thrilled with the turnout: “It was amazing to watch a sea of foster carers and colleagues cross the finish line, all in ‘Fostering in Somerset’ vests.

So many people came out to raise awareness by running or supporting us at our fostering information stall.

“Thank you to the hard work of and training hours put in from everyone who took part; especially our dedicated foster carers, social workers and supportive friends and families.

“Somerset Children in Care are all our children, it’s important we all do our bit to offer them a better future.
